New ABB test plug provides operator safety

If a current transformer (CT) is opened while operating, the new ABB FT current test plug with open CT protection will short the CT to protect the operator. The ABB test plug with ergonomic handle prevents shock hazards, outages, and erroneous CT readings associated with open CTs. There are many likely events that can cause open CT conditions, but this new product eliminates those risks including operator error, incorrect equipment settings, and deviation from correct test procedures. When a CT is opened during operation, the red LED signals that a fault has occurred. During protection, the test plug minimizes waveform distortion to prevent false trips by maintaining signal continuity.
